- This week, UK Prime Minister made yet another embarrassing and out-of-touch blunder
- The Conservative party leader – who has an estimated fortune of £651 million and is richer than King Charles III – revealed that he had ‘gone without’ Sky TV as a child
- Of course, Twitter/X did its thing, and produced some amazing memes

Another week, another political blunder from the UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.
As the electoral campaign trail heats up as the country prepares to vote in the General Election on July 4, leaders of all parties have been taking part in press interviews in a bid to win votes.
Hot off the back of Sunak leaving the D-Day memorial service at Omaha Beach early on June 6 – when he was replaced by former PM David Cameron, who joined world leaders including US President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as Prince William – the Conservative leader faced yet more criticism after an interview with UK television channel, ITV News.
In a discussion with journalist Paul Brand, he asked Sunak – whose estimated fortune recently rose £122 million from 2023, to a whopping £651 million – “When you are wealthier with the King, what do you do day-to-day to make sure you are still in touch with struggles ordinary people face? Have you ever gone without something?”
“My family emigrated here with very little, and that’s how I was raised,” Sunak answered. “I was raised with the values of hard work.”
Brand then pressed on, “So what sort of things had to be sacrificed?” To which Sunak replied, “Lots of things. Famously, Sky [satellite] TV, that was something that we never had growing up, actually.”
Of course, such a ridiculous answer was bound to cause quite the stir on Twitter/X – and these are Pubity.com’s favorite memes from the exchange…
All the best memes from Sunak’s ‘Sky TV’ gaff
Of course, Sunak’s D-Day memorial failure had to be poked fun at
As well as bothering other pensioners
And the vulnerable
Others compared the millionaire PM to Charles Dickens’s Oliver Twist
A long-forgotten Sky TV game came back into the public consciousness: Beehive Bedlam. And to be fair, voters could see why Sunak felt so deprived
But some believed that this could be the reason for his political failings
And thought all major party leaders should have a shot at playing the game
Some urged voters to dig deep for Sunak
While others pointed out that Sunak’s upbringing was much better than their own…
…and also suggested that the Conservative party’s policies will mean that no other children will have to go through such a hardship
Some thought it must be a TV wind-up
And the interview did give an air of this legend
But one thing’s for certain: this will surely not be the last time Sunak puts a foot wrong in the run up to the election
