- New show coming to Disney+ will explore Wakanda in greater depth
- Eyes of Wakanda will also feature the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe
- Black Panther and Wakanda plays a vital role in the MCU

The upcoming Black Panther animated series will not just explore the nation of Wakanda in greater depth, but also expand the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Eyes of Wakanda, which will air on Disney+, will give greater context to Wakanda, its history and people, but will also explore the wider MCU too, according to Brad Winterbaum, head of TV, streaming and animation at Marvel Studios, who revealed this in an episode of The Official Marvel Podcast.
Winterbaum said that Eyes of Wakanda will tie in with the MCU more than any other animation coming out of the studios. “It’s both about the history of Wakanda, but it also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods. So if you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show is going to be a real treat.”
Other than this, plotlines for the series are being kept under wraps, save for a line that it will follow warriors from Wakanda searching for dangerous Vibranium artifacts. Likewise, the voice cast has not been announced yet, but this is likely to come in the next few months as production progresses.
There have been two Black Panther films so far in the MCU – 2018’s Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which followed in 2022. But both Wakanda and Black Panther have featured in or referenced in various other films in the MCU, right back to Iron Man 2, and the nation plays a significant role in the MCU – not least as the source of Vibranium, which Captain America’s shield is made from.
The release date for the show has yet to be announced but could come out before the end of the year – 2024 was mentioned when it was revealed the show was in development.
