The new Netflix trailer for Squid Game season 2 has made its way online, featuring the return of a familiar face.
This show’s latest teaser invites audiences to enjoy a new game or risk and reward, although the emphasis here may be solidly on the risk. It follows actor Gong Yoo’s mysterious Salesman preparing for another day spent luring unsuspecting gambling addicts into the Squid Game.
Fans of Netflix’s hugely popular thriller will remember Yoo’s appearance in the show’s first season when he pulled Lee Jung-jae’s Seong Gi-Hun into a game that changed his life forever.

When is Squid Game season 2 released?
Squid Game season 2 is released on Netflix worldwide on 26 December 2024.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk’s South Korean hit brought viewers into a sinister world where cash-strapped players are invited to risk it all for a life-changing sum of money. Here, they must risk their lives to complete a set of seemingly simple games, while the wealthy place anonymous wagers on their odds of survival.
Debuting in 2021, the show was a huge hit, quickly becoming Netflix’s most-watched series ever and clocking up 1.65 billion views in its first four weeks.
What happens in Squid Game season 2?
In Squid Game season 2, Dong-hyuk will pick up Gi-hun’s story as he re-enters this deadly game with a new mindset.
“Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind,” explains the show’s official synopsis. “Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.”
Meanwhile, a reality series based on the show made its way to the streamer late last year. Squid Game: The Challenge hit Netflix in November 2024 and featured 456 real-life players taking part in a series of challenges.
The show’s sole winner walked away with $4.56 million – the largest cash prize ever given away by a TV show.
