They’re two of Hollywood’s brightest stars.

And now Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are set to star in a movie together.

The actors will perform in a film adaptation of the 2022 novel, The Housemaid.

Written by Freida McFadden, Sweeney, 27, will play Millie, a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to a wealthy couple, Nina (played by Seyfried) and Andrew.

But according to the synopsis of the film, “Millie soon learns the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.”

At the helm of the psychological thriller is Paul Feig, who was the brains behind movies such as Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor.

Sweeney and Seyfried will serve as executive producers alongside McFadden and Alex Young.

In a statement, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson said, “I’m thrilled to have The Housemaid join our upcoming slate. A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start.

“My prior work experiences with Paul and Amanda have been nothing short of spectacular, and Sydney is as talented and compelling as can be.”

Lionsgate co-president Erin Westerman added, “Part of the fun of the book was imagining the cast while we read it, and Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are perfect for Millie and Nina – they’re both mysterious, nuanced, and incredibly skilled at becoming characters who don’t reveal everything right away.

“We’re thrilled to team them with Paul Feig, who we worked with on A Simple Favor and its upcoming sequel, and has a proven track record of developing stories with dynamic female leads.”

Seyfried eyes up Sabrina Carpenter

While we’re sure Seyfried is thrilled to be working with Sweeney, she isn’t the only star who the actor has her eyes on!

Last week, the 38-year-old revealed how she would love to cast Sabrina Carpenter as her daughter in the third Mamma Mia movie.

Seyfried – who plays Meryl Streep’s daughter Sophie in the film franchise – told ABC News, “Mamma Mia 3, let’s go baby. Everybody says it’s gonna happen. But I mean, I haven’t seen a script.”

Although Seyfried is only 13 years older than Carpenter, it was pointed out that age is just a construct.

“You’re right, actually, [it] doesn’t matter,” agreed Seyfried. “You know what? Old age makeup for me. That’s what it will be. … I’m an actor. I’ll do it. If Sabrina Carpenter wants to play my daughter, I’ll make it happen. It’s fine. I’m a big fan.”

The comments came just days after Carpenter covered the movie’s title track at her Short n’ Sweet tour date at Madison Square Garden.
