Hacked Leaks Reveal
Game Freak- the studio behind the all-time favorite Pokémon has fallen victim to a massive data breach. The leak of 1 Terabyte of data including details of previous, ongoing, and upcoming projects has left the fans and industry in uttering shock.
The incident happened in August 2024, but only recently came to light. Nintendo Life reported it first, and then Game Freak also issued a statement on 10th October 2024 regarding the authenticity of the breaching attempt.
The game developer also revealed that the personal data of 2,606 employees had been compromised. It is said that the security flaw has been patched, but the breach has left its mark as the information continues to spread online.
Leaked data includes codenames for future projects- 10th-generation Pokémon games labeled as “K” and “N”. Apart from this the mysterious project- codenamed “Synapse” has also been revealed, which is reported to be a Pokémon MMO.
As per some reports it is in development through collaboration with some other studio- the name is not known yet. Adding to the chaos the retro gamers decided not to stay back by any means and they revisited the classic Pokémon games from the Nintendo DS era- HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black 2, and White 2.
This stunt led to the uncovering of unseen artwork and scrapped ideas, sparking wonder about the Pokemon that could have been. Another intriguing part of this leak is the forthcoming Nintendo next-generation console- codenamed “Ounce”.
Not only this but also the details of the Pokémon series on Netflix. All the exposure has left everyone wondering and has reminded them of Nintendo’s well-known “Gigaleak”, 2020.
