We are well into Spooky Season now and the Sing team have joined in, with a special short film on Netflix that pays tribute to an iconic Michael Jackson track.

Team reunited

Sing Thriller drops on Netflix today (Wednesday 16th) and reunites many of the team and voices behind the popular films.

Many of the voice cast from the hit films have returned for the short, including Matthew McConaughey as Buster, Tori Kelly as Meena, Nick Kroll as Gunter, Scarlett Johansson as Ash, Taron Egerton as Johnny and Garth Jennings as Miss Crawly.

Jennings also directed Sing Thriller, and it was produced by Chris Meledandri from Illumination.

In the short, ever-enthusiastic impresario Buster Moon and friends look to stage a version of Michael Jackson’s iconic track Thriller for a Halloween party. But of course things don’t run quite to plan and the crew realise that a mysterious ooze (aren’t all oozes mysterious?) has turned the partygoers into dancing freaks.

In a Deep Dive piece on Netflix, Jennings said: “Our awesome cast and team of geniuses at Illumination have gone above and beyond to take one of the biggest hits of all time and concoct a new and very special treat for Halloween.”

Sing Thriller is based on the1983 track by Michael Jackson, which was a monster hit at the time – and included an iconic video – and has been a staple at Halloween parties ever since. The album of the same name remains the best-selling album of all time.

More horror

If more adult-oriented horror is your thing, then you can now watch Alien: Romulus on streaming services. Alien: Romulus was a critical and commercial success on its theatrical release earlier this year.
