- Best friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set to be back on screen together
- Well-known action thriller director on board too
- Film is currently looking for a distributor

Best buddies Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set to team up on screen yet again in a new action thriller.
The film, titled RIP, also has Joe Carnahan on board as director, who is best known for films such as Smokin’ Aces and The A-Team, and for writing Bad Boys for Life, which reinvigorated that franchise.
Action thriller
Little has been revealed about the plot, other than it is a crime thriller. Carnahan is known for action-packed films featuring a lot of violence, but also humor, so it may lean towards that style.
While the film has yet to find a distributor – although there is interest from theatrical and streaming buyers, according to Deadline – shooting on the project is slated to begin in the autumn. Artists Equity is producing the film, a company founded by Affleck and Damon in 2022.
Long friendship
When – or if – the film makes it to release, it will continue the remarkable run of films that have starred the two friends. They first shared the screen way back in 1997 with Good Will Hunting, which they also wrote together – and won the best original screenplay Oscar for in 1998. Although they both appeared as extras in Field of Dreams in 1989.
Since then, they have regularly appeared together in films, such as several Jay and Silent Bob movies, Jersey Girl and, most recently, Air – the story of the partnership between Nike and Michael Jordan. Affleck also directed the latter film.
The pair have been friends since childhood – they met when Affleck was aged 8 and Damon 10 – and they decided at an early age they wanted to become movie stars.
