Users have been experiencing problems using their Spotify Premium APKs around the world, leaving many stuck without their regular music fix.

An APK – or Android Package Kit – allows Android users to access certain apps or products. However, it can also help others access pirated versions of apps that give illegal access to premium features.

Spotify Premium gives music fans a host of perks. These include ad-free listening, access to higher quality audio options and the ability to download music and listen offline. Outages began being reported on 3 March and fans have taken to Reddit to try and figure out what’s going on.

The big answer so far? Spotify is experimenting with new techniques that stop cracked versions of their app being accessed. Of course, this is all speculation. At the time of writing, the music giant has yet to release any concrete statement regarding the situation.

If you find yourself afflicted then don’t worry. Thankfully, there are a handful of Spotify Premium alternatives that you can try instead. Each come with their own pros and cons but each will allow you to access music.

Spotify Free

First off, why not try regular old free Spotify. While some have complained about the audio quality, Spotify Free still gives you access to tracks. That said, you’ll also have to sit through frequent adverts. Despite this, the app’s music Discovery feature remains the same as its Premium alternative, and you can get access auto-generated Daily Mix playlists.

YouTube Music

An increasingly popular option among Gen Z, YouTube Music boasts over 100 million users worldwide and features a free version and a premium option. The latter is ad-free and provides the ability to listen offline alongside background play options. Meanwhile, YouTube Music features unlimited track skips, unlike Spotify Free.

Apple Music

Apple Music offers great music quality. It also has an impressive catalogue of bands and artists, with over 100 million songs listed on its extensive library. The musicians you love will also dish out exclusive content every now and then. However, it’s trickier to access podcasts and there isn’t a free version so music fans will have to fork out cash before getting access to music.

Amazon Music

Over on Amazon, their music platform also has both a free and a premium service. The former gives access to selected songs and pre-curated playlists but you’ll also have to endure a few dreaded adverts. Meanwhile, those with access to Amazon Prime can listen to over 100 million songs ad-free, alongside a huge catalogue of ad-free podcasts, radio stations and playlists.
