With many of us heading back to our family homes for Christmas, we prepare to embrace all the weird and wonderful traditions that make our holidays so unique.

And although Hollywood may seem worlds away, even the biggest stars have their own way of enjoying the festivities.

From playing games, getting into family fights, and even opening their presents a day early, these celebrities have curated a Christmas that is perfect for them.

Read on to find out the Christmas traditions of six celebrities…

Kate Hudson

She’s from one of Hollywood’s greatest acting dynasties – but that doesn’t mean Kate Hudson’s Christmas is any different from the rest of ours.

The actor, 45, spends the big day with her mother Goldie Hawn, stepfather Kurt Russell, and brother Oliver Hudson at the family’s Colorado cabin.

“We play those games,” she revealed. “We get in those fights. We make up. We laugh. We get drunk. We do probably what every family does over the holidays.

“We get stressed out the night before Christmas. We stay up until four in the morning putting things together for the kids. We enjoy each other.”

Lionel Richie

As head of the family, it’s Lionel Richie’s job to organize Christmas – and put his hand in his wallet!

The singer, 75, is father to daughters Nicole and Sofia – and previously admitted they’re all about a festive getaway.

“The family is negotiating, ‘Dad, where are we going?’” Richie explained. “So when they say ‘Where are we going?’, that means that I will pay for it!”

“It’s fun. Having the family with me is the best.”

Eva Longoria

Although Santa Claus isn’t supposed to make his big entrance until December 25, Eva Longoria says she and her family – husband Jose Baston and their six-year-old son Santiago – get the festivities started on Christmas Eve.

“I’m Mexican. I’m a Texican. We celebrate on the 24th,” Longoria, 49, said. “We don’t really do the Christmas morning, like, wait [for] Santa. Somehow Santa came at 2:00 p.m. and here are all the presents.”

Miranda Kerr

Actor Miranda Kerr enjoys spending her time in the kitchen at Christmas, as it reminds her of her family.

“My family and I, we grew up always making meals together,” Kerr, 41, revealed. “Having my mom there and my three boys involved in the cooking is something that I really enjoy.”

We’d expect nothing other than a house filled with music in the Carter household at Christmas – and Beyoncé confirms that’s certainly the case.

“We also collect ornaments with everyone’s favorite things. We decorate while jamming to Christmas music,” the singer, 43, explained. “I love Christmas. We decorate cookies and ornaments.”

Gwyneth Paltrow

And finally, while Gwyneth Paltrow may be a very unconventional sort of person (look no further than her brand, Goop, to find that out!), she loves nothing more than embracing tradition at Christmas.

Paltrow, 52 – who has Apple, 20, and Moses, 18, with ex-husband Chris Martin – loves to host “all the family” during the holidays.

“I do a lot of the cooking before Christmas but then I usually spend a lot of Christmas cooking too,” she admitted. “All the smells, all of the mulled wine, all of the trimmings for the turkey. We like to have all the family around. A very traditional Christmas.”
