Uh-oh, Justin Bieber may be in hot water again. He allegedly liked a picture that involved Selena Gomez. The singer, 31, has been in the spotlight recently for a dig he reportedly made at Gomez, 32.

On Instagram, he reposted a meme from a page with the caption, “When girls get engaged”. Considering Gomez got engaged to music producer Benny Blanco, 37, in December, the post could be about her. However, this is based purely on speculation.

Meanwhile, Gomez has been busy promoting her collaborative album with Blanco, I Said I Love You First. Bieber has also been busy with his marriage to Hailey Bieber, 28, and fatherhood. He and Bieber share a 7-month-old son named Jacks Blues Bieber.

Fans are not happy with the Yummy singer for liking a photo of his ex. Jelena was linked for the last time from November 2017 until March 2018. Now Bieber has reignited the flame once again, but did he like a picture of his ex-girlfriend? Let’s break it down.

Did Justin Bieber like a Picture of His Ex-Girlfriend?

In short, we aren’t sure. People previously claimed that his wife liked a shady TikTok about Gomez and Blanco in March, which a representative for Bieber denied. News outlets have said Bieber liked a photo of Gomez and Blanco kissing and quickly unliked it on Instagram. The photo was shared on Complex’s Instagram account and was reposted from Gomez’s profile.

Various outlets have posted the alleged screenshot. Here is the ‘screenshot’.

How did the internet react?

Beliebers and Selenators are at war (as they always are) concerning the screenshot. Some fans have argued the screenshot is a hoax, which is common on the internet. On the other hand, fans of Gomez argue that Bieber is ‘obsessed’ with his ex-girlfriend.

On X, users had their say.

The Justin Bieber screenshot was fake?

Many fans argued the screenshot was fake, since who would be able to capture it that quickly?

One user questioned the validity of the screenshot and wrote, “This can’t be real. Is it?”

Another user supported the idea that the screenshot was fake, reasoning that Bieber doesn’t manage his social media accounts. They wrote, “Justin doesn’t even manage his own socials anymore—definitely just someone on his team messing around!”

Chiming in, another fan stated, “It was fake.”

Justin Bieber liking a photo of Selena Gomez was real, fans say

Arguing against that, fans of Gomez disagreed. A user laughed about the incident and wrote, “LMFAO he’s obsessed”.

Another user agreed, writing: “Oh but Selena was obsessed…”

‘Obsessed’ is the overused word here…

Other fans found the screenshot funny, with one fan writing: “Come on, man, this is embarrassing”.

Savagely, one fan brought up Bieber’s wife and said, “Hailey will say it glitched again like always”.

X users are brutal!

Regarding glitching, in March 2025, Bieber commented on a TikTok denying she had unfollowed her husband on Instagram. The 28-year-old wrote, “It’s a glitch! Didn’t unfollow him. Hope this helps!”

So…is the Selena Gomez picture screenshot real?

There is no way to verify if the screenshot is real or fake. Based on the public’s treatment of Bieber and his wife in the past, it could be fake. There are still fans who are obsessed with Jelena, so they could’ve made the screenshot for that reason.

Unless Complex had proof of Bieber liking the post, there is no way to verify.
