Spotify Wrapped 2024 is finally here, with users now able to share their annual music tastes with the world.
This annual analysis of your most-binged songs has become a key date in the diary and something to look forward to as the year nears its end.
However, this year’s edition was uncharacteristically late, leaving many fans frustrated as to why they couldn’t delve into their music data sooner.

Each November, social media is usually flooded with screenshots of people’s Wrapped pages, with fans keen to share what their music tastes say about them.
However, for this year’s edition, the streaming giant made a tiny tweak to its tracking system. It’s one that could have had a huge impact on the results fans received.
Here’s what we know about Spotify Wrapped 2024…
What is Spotify Wrapped?

Launched in 2016, Spotify Wrapped is a round-up of analytical data that the music streamer has gathered on its users. It’s based on their annual listening habits.
Delivered via playful infographics, Wrapped tells listeners what their five most listened-to musicians or artists were over the past year. It also provides the same data for their most listened-to songs and top music genres.
Meanwhile, musicians, bands and artists get their own version. This provides them with insights into their most streamed tracks for the year.
The information is bespoke to each user, forming a visual reflection of their accumulated musical tastes. As such, it’s become a very shareable tool, with the app encouraging users to post their Wrapped data on social media platforms like Instagram.
People typically oblige, too – with Wrapped round-ups a regular sight on places like X, Instagram and Facebook as the year comes to a close.
When is Spotify Wrapped 2024 released?

Spotify Wrapped 2024 was released on Wednesday 4 December 2024.
Before this, the streamer teased its arrival by sharing a post on X that suggested it was “coming soon.”

“This year contained multitudes. So will your Wrapped. Coming Soon,” said Spotify in a cryptic post.
Apple’s own version of Spotify Wrapped, Apple Music Replay, landed on 3 December 2024, leading many to believe Spotify’s version couldn’t be far behind.
In fact, some eagle-eyed Reddit users were convinced that they’d guessed its arrival date based on the announcement of a Wrapped Live concert in Indonesia.
“Spotify Wrapped Live Indonesia occurred the day after Wrapped was released in the states last year,” explained a Reddit user named Starryrz.
“We got wrapped on November 29th, wrapped live was on November 30th. Based on this we will get wrapped on December 4th assuming it follows this pattern again.”
In addition, Reddit pointed out how Spotify has a habit of dropping Wrapped on Wednesdays and around Thanksgiving. Both their 2023 and 2022 versions used this day and considering Thanksgiving has now passed, Wednesday 4 December is the next obvious choice.
As it turn out, they were right – Spotify Wrapped did drop on 4 December 2024.
This was slightly later than usual. For reference, 2023’s round-up dropped on 29 November last year while 2022’s edition landed on 30 November.
All Wrapped data is available within the app itself, with users given the option to share selected sections of the report.
How do you access your Spotify Wrapped 2024 round-up?

It couldn’t be easier to access your Wrapped data. The streamer usually delivers its annual review directly to the homepage of your app as soon as it’s ready. Simply open your app and there it is.
However, if you somehow miss it or accidentally dismiss the pop-up, don’t worry. You can still find it by clicking the ‘Home’ button in the app. Alternatively, you can also find it by visiting the Spotify website.
When does Spotify Wrapped 2024 stop tracking?

It was believed that the company stopped tracking listener data on 31 October each year. This insight was first reported by USA Today in 2022, with the outlet highlighting that the last two months of a year aren’t included in your Wrapped data and that technically, the service doesn’t provide a fully accurate reflection of your annual listening habits.
However, all this could be set to change as the music platform recently revealed that it will continue to collect data beyond its usual Halloween end-point. That said, it didn’t specify when its data collection would come to a close.
It confirmed this news via an X post on 31 October 2024.
This means that Spotify Wrapped 2024 will likely be a more accurate interpretation of your musical tastes for the year gone by – but we don’t know exactly how accurate it will be.
On 24 October, the company issued a pop-up note to its users informing them that the year was “almost a wrap” and suggesting they keep their app up to date to ensure their information is as accurate as possible.
This has led many to believe that their tracking will come to a close sooner rather than later but nothing has been officially confirmed.
How to update your Spotify app

With Wrapped ready to drop, Spotify posted a news article on Wednesday 27 November that offered some advice for ensuring you get the most out of the experience.
Their big tip was to make sure your app was up-to-date as an updated app is the only way to guarantee that you get access to all of Wrapped’s features.
Thankfully, this couldn’t be easier to do. Below, you’ll find the streamer’s four-step guide on how to update your app:
- Visit the Apple App Store if you have an iPhone or the Google Play Store if you have an Android.
- Search and find your Spotify app.
- Once it appears, you will see whether you have the latest version or the option to hit the “Update” button.
- Hit “Update” and you’re all set.
In addition to explaining that an updated app helps users to share their Wrapped infographics onto places like TikTok and Instagram, the company also unpacked its other benefits.
“One of the keys to getting the best Wrapped experience is making sure your Spotify app is up-to-date,” explained their team “If your phone isn’t set to automatically update the app and you haven’t manually updated it in a while, you may be missing out on some pretty great features.
They added: “An up-to-date app means you’re getting a fully optimized Wrapped experience. When the time comes for the big reveal of your personalized 2024 listening trends, you want to be ready.
“You’ll also be able to easily share your unique finds or fun tidbits from your yearlong listening with friends on social media.”
