- A new series of biopics about The Beatles will hit theaters in April 2028
- Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan and Joseph Quinn were announced this week to be starring as The Fab Four
- But fans online were quick to tear down the casting decisions – and even offered up alternative names

Fans of The Beatles, rejoice – as not one, not two, but four movies are on the way about Liverpool’s greatest export.
Directed by Sam Mendes, the biopics will all be in theaters in April 2028 – in what the filmmaker has branded the “first binge-able theatrical experience”.
But who will be starring as The Fab Four?
The Irish-heavy line-up will see Paul Mescal take on the role of Paul McCartney, and Barry Keoghan will portray drummer Ringo Starr.
Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, while Joseph Quinn completes the main cast as George Harrison.
While there’s no denying that the four actors are extremely talented, many fans weren’t happy with the casting directors’ decisions.
‘And who will be playing The Beatles?’
let me just put it side by side for all of u beatles fans and non beatles fans so you all can see how truly horrendous this casting is pic.twitter.com/L7RhSMdT9r

“Four famous men who look nothing like The Beatles star in The Beatles films!! Okay…,” mused one. Another joked of the line-up, “And who will be playing The Beatles?”
Someone else went on, “I don’t even care about The Beatles like that, but it’s genuinely crazy they cast the four white boys of the month that have about four percent resemblance, like wow.”
Some were thrilled about the announcement, thanks to Keoghan and Mescal’s inclusion.

“As dumb and shortsighted as this entire endeavor is, operation ‘make The Beatles Irish’ has been a success,” they laughed.
Others were more harsh about their acting abilities.
“Between Gladiator II, Fantastic Four, and now The Beatles four film event series, Joseph Quinn is really excelling at being the guy in the movie you just don’t care about,” they wrote.
‘Cast Robert Pattinson as all four Beatles!’

Some took umbrage with the age of the actors.
“One of the biggest things about the Beatles’ essence and success was that they were just four young boys from Liverpool with a massive passion for music,” wrote another fan. “So casting four grown men in their late 20s/early 30s when they weren’t even 30 at the end of the Beatles ruins that magic.”
Others had their own suggestions for the cast.
“I need Aimee Lou Wood to play Pattie Boyd in The Beatles biopics,” wrote one fan, casting The White Lotus star as George Harrison’s ex-wife.
Someone else had the idea of a movie crossover, referencing Timothée Chalamet’s recent Oscar-nominated portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

“Timothée Chalamet is gonna show up at the end of this like Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man, and offer The Beatles a joint,” they joked.
And some fans were just, let’s face it, super keen to see their favorite star in every single role.
“Robert Pattinson could’ve played all four Beatles,” they said.
Well, if Mickey 17 is anything to go by…
