- Man threw mangos and a rock at neighbor allegedly because he thought he was gay
- Victim is actually married to a woman and has children
- Man now faces several charges related to alleged incident

A man from South Florida is facing charges for allegedly throwing two mangos and a rock at his neighbor because he thought he was gay.
The incident began innocently enough when Charles Oliver Lovekin went to speak to his neighbor about a mango that had fallen onto his patio and made a loud noise. Lovekin is reported to own a mango tree at his property.
Escalated quickly
But matters quickly escalated and Lovekin became angry at his neighbor and started shouting slurs at him including ‘gay and ‘motherfucker’, according to local police. Lovekin then threw two mangos at his neighbor – one of which hit him in the chest – followed by a rock, which the neighbor dodged.
When police arrived soon after, it has been reported that Lovekin said he threw the mangos because he thought his neighbor was gay, adding that he felt “uncomfortable” with the way he was looking at him, so he threw the fruit and a rock at him.
The unnamed victim is said to be married – to a woman – and has children, according to an arrest report. He reportedly feared for his life during the fruit-based attack.
Charges made
Lovekin was arrested and has been charged with a third-degree felony with evidence of prejudice, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing bodily harm. In addition, he was charged with a first-degree misdemeanour with evidence of prejudice, according to inmate records.
He is currently being held on a $15,000 bond.
