YouTuber IShowSpeed has completed one of his most dangerous stunts yet – performing a backflip on an iconic sculpture – and sent the internet wild.

The video clip, posted to his 27.5 million followers on Instagram, shows IShowSpeed standing on the Hand of God sculpture in Guatemala, which is on the side of a mountain. He turns to the camera and says: “OK, this is very dangerous. I am about to do a backflip off The Hand of God. If I fall, its over with.”

He then takes a moment and completes the stunt, shouting a triumphant “Let’s go” once he had landed successfully.

The Hand of God is in the Altamira National Park in Antigua Guatemala and is a well-known landmark for tourists.

Big reaction

The reaction from fans was mostly admiration, combined with fears for his safety. “Someone needs to tell bro there’s no respawn button” posted one. Another said: “I held my breath for this one.”

Another poster – possibly channelling Chuck Norris – posted: “he ain’t scared of death. Death is scared of him.”

However, the stunt might not have been as dangerous as it first appeared, as – as pointed out by some commenters – there apparently is a net underneath the statue, which is publicly accessible, just in case someone should fall off. Nevertheless, it was still an impressive feat.

IShowSpeed YouTube subscribers

This is just the latest physical stunt by IShowSpeed, who has amassed more than 34 million subscribers on YouTube – making him one of the most popular streamers on the platform. He has become well known for his stunts, as well as his live marathon streams of games.

Currently, IShowSpeed is touring South America. He began in Colombia on January 13, before moving onto Guatemala. He plans to visit another seven countries during his trip. So we could see more stunts – maybe not quite as heart-stopping as this one – in the coming days as he travels around the continent.

IShowSpeed was also in the news recently when it emerged that he had been given permission to stream long-running anime One Piece on his channel – a privilege few content creators have been given. He is known for his love of the anime, especially the main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy.
