BookTokers, rejoice – the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, It Ends With Us, will be reaching our screens very soon!

While the movie has been pushed back twice so far, it’s now on track to hit theaters on August 9 – meaning we only have a few short weeks to wait before seeing how directors have molded the book into a film script.

Starring Blake Lively as Lily, the movie will also see Brandon Sklenar as Atlas – Lily’s past love interest, who shows up and threatens her new life with neurosurgeon Ryle, who will be played by Jane The Virgin’s Justin Baldoni.

Baldoni is also directing and producing the film through his production company, Wayfarer Entertainment.

Speaking about her cast, Hoover revealed, “Our Lily is going to be played by Blake Lively. Blake Lively, y’all. She’s my dream Lily.”

She added, “When I first met Justin Baldoni, who is directing the film for It Ends With Us, I immediately wanted him to be Ryle. I just thought that he had what it takes to play that character. The good news is he’s gonna be Ryle. So we have our Ryle and our Lily.”

And of Skenlar, Hoover said: “They announced Atlas! Cannot wait for this. Loving the cast so far. Feels like a dream.”

Hoover’s novel – which was published in 2016 – sent TikTok into a spiral in 2022, when it garnered over 2 billion views associated with the book’s hashtag.

It focuses around college graduate Lily, who hopes to open her own flower shop. Moving to Boston, she falls in love with Ryle, whilst also coming to terms with the abuse in her parent’s relationship and grappling with the memories of her past love Atlas – who then reappears, throwing Lily’s new life with Ryle up in the air.
