Jurassic Park fans have gone wild for a new TikTok featuring Alan Grant star Sam Neill and his JP T-Rex co-star, with many calling it the sequel they deserve.

You’ll no doubt not need reminding that New Zealand actor Neill famously played paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 dinosaur-heavy game-changer.

He even faced off with the park’s notorious T-Rex after the dino droppings really hit the fan and all of the attraction’s giant (and hungry) prehistoric beasts escaped from their pens.

Cut to more than 30 years later and Neill is back alongside his biggest co-star in a newly released TikTok video – and Jurassic Park fans are loving it.

THIS IS SILLY . Why did i do this ? Sorry Steven .

The short clip was posted on Wednesday 16 April and it’s already clocked up more than a million views. In it, we see Neill riding alongside an inflatable Tyrannosaurus Rex in a small vehicle.

A sunny climate can be seen in the background as the pair traverse lush, farm-yard scenery. At one point, Neill playfully scratches the under-side of the Rex’s chin, before asking “You wanna dig up some bones today?”

He continues, adding: “Okay, let’s do it.”

Neill fully embraced the silliness of his video. He even pointed it out in the caption while apologising to Spielberg.

“THIS IS SILLY . Why did i do this ? Sorry Steven,” he wrote.

Naturally, fans responded to the clip with joy, with many extra happy that Neill’s Jurassic Park co-star Jeff Goldblum reposted the clip.

“Sam Neil posting this and Jeff Goldblum reposting it healed me,” said one happy user.

“This could be the new Jurassic park movie and I wouldn’t even be mad,” says the top comment under the video – one that’s wracked up 18.5 thousand likes.

“When did I subscribe to Tiktok Premium?!??!?” added another clearly-pleased Jurassic Park fan.

The Nivea Men account even chimed in to say “Life found a way.”

Meanwhile, others preferred to believe that Neill was actually embodying Dr. Grant and this was actually a sneak peek at his new normal.

“This is canon for Alan Grant’s retirement now,” said one TikToker. “He and Ellie adopted a baby Rex and live on a farm.”

The comment referenced his Jurassic Park co-star Laura Dern, who famously played rapter-outrunning botanist Ellie Sattler.

When is Jurassic World Rebirth released?

Those after another Jurassic Park hit don’t have to wait too long. The franchise’s latest instalment, Jurassic World Rebirth, is set for release 2 July 2025.

Set a few years after the previous Chris Pratt-fronted Jurassic World trilogy, this new story is directed by Monsters’ helmer Gareth Edwards. It features Scarlett Johansson in the lead role alongside Wicked’s Jonathan Bailey.

Johansson plays a crack expeditions expert who’s forced to go on a perilous mission to a new Jurassic Park island featuring the worst-of-the-worst dinos.

Sadly, Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant isn’t expected to appear in this one – but don’t be sad. We’ll always have this TikTok.
