What is the plot of the revival?
After years of rumor, a Malcolm in the Middle reboot was confirmed in late 2024. It is set to air on Disney+ although a confirmed air date has not yet been confirmed.
According to a plot synopsis, the four-part reunion special will focus on Malcolm being forced to reunite with his family at his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary.
It’ll even introduce some new characters, including Malcolm’s daughter.
“Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party,” reads the synopsis.
Original series stars Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield are also back as Malcolm’s brothers Francis and Reece respectively. One star who is not expected to return is Dewey actor Erik Per Sullivan.
Instead, his role has been recast with The Expanse actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark taking on the role of Malcolm’s youngest brother.
