All this we know. However, when it comes to the film’s story, things get a little murkier. Here’s everything we know so far about the Marty Supreme plot…
Marty Supreme Plot: Is it based on a true story?

We know Marty Supreme will be lonely based on the life of the professional ping pong player Marty Reisman. Safdie wrote the script with his frequent collaborator Ronald Bronstein, the same guy who worked on Good Time and Uncut Gems.
However, it’s believed that Marty Supreme will only take loose inspiration from Reisman’s actual life. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be “a fictionalized original,” meaning we can probably expect a few random plot points to pop up here and there.
As shown in recently leaked set photos, Marty Supreme will be a period film of sorts, with segments set in 1940s and 1950s America. However it’s unclear whether the entire story will take place during this timeframe.
The film is being made by A24 and will reportedly be their most expensive project to date, with a alleged budget of around $70 million.
Who is Marty Reisman?

Reisman was a table tennis champion who passed away in 2012 aged 82. A Manhattan native, he started played at the age of 12 before competing for bets as a hustler during the 1940s.
Not long afterwards, Reisman went pro and won a number of medals at the 1948, 1949 and 1952 World Table Tennis Championships.
His professional winning streak continued until 2002. He eventually went on to become the oldest table tennis champion ever after winning the national competition in 1997.
