- Ohio State did not react well to the Michigan Wolverines planting their flag on the Buckeyes logo
- Wolverines ran out 13-10 winners over the no.2 Ohio State
- Police eventually used pepper spray on some players

Ohio State players did not take kindly to Michigan Wolverines planting their flag over the Buckeyes logo at Ohio Stadium on Saturday. To put it very, very mildly.
The Wolverines ran out 13-10 winners in Ohio and were not content with merely inflicting defeat on the Buckeyes. The Wolverines were out for blood. Metaphorically and then literally as Ohio State waded back onto the field as a mass brawl broke out.
Several Buckeyes players decided that their defeat on the field was enough and were not in the mood to be disrespected. Perhaps the fact this was the fourth consecutive time Michigan has dealt Ohio State an L was too much to bear, on top of the flag stunt.
Wolverine’s edge rusher Derrick Moore ran to midfield with the Michigan flag, only to have it ripped away from him by several Ohio State players, including Jack Sawyer. Cue all hell breaking loose.
Michigan defensive back Rod Moore also held the flag as it was about to be planted, thus reigniting the fighting. It was fighting that had to be brought to an end by the police presence at the game, with pepper spray being used by the authorities – a tactic that came in for heavy criticism online, with one X user stating, “if you’re a cop working a football game and have no other plan to break up a fight between football players but to pepper spray football players perhaps you shouldn’t be working a football game.”

Another college football fan on X reacted by posting, “Using pepper spray on football players still on the playing surface for a postgame fight is incredibly lame behavior,” while another added, “Bad look for Ohio State. Lose AND pepper spray the opposing players? I’ve never seen this before.”
Last thing. I loved the flag plant. I loved Ohio State coming out to fight for their field. I loved the brawl. I loved the pepper spray. It’s okay to admit violence is entertaining. That’s a rivalry. Nobody died. Nobody hurt. Don’t let the media lames tell you that wasn’t GREAT.
