- Podcast host announced his endorsement for Trump on social media, last night
- Trump appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience during his campaign trail
- Journalists and social media users have been sharing previous quotes and clips from the Joe Rogan Experience which appear to contradict Rogan’s current political stance
Joe Rogan has officially endorsed Donald Trump for President of the United States. It is a decision that has seemingly been made through the influence of Elon Musk and has attracted a deluge of attention overnight on the eve of the Presidential election.
As Americans head to the polls this morning to cast their votes, Rogan’s revelation on X (formerly known as Twitter), the social media platform owned and operated by Musk, could potentially be influential among certain voting demographics. But the podcast host and UFC commentator has shared a very different opinion of Trump in the past to the one he shared with his 13.4m followers on X, last night.
Sharing a video of Musk’s appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan wrote, “The great and powerful @elonmusk. If it wasn’t for him we’d be f***ed. He makes what I think is the most compelling case for Trump you’ll hear, and I agree with him every step of the way. For the record, yes, that’s an endorsement of Trump. Enjoy the podcast”
At the time of writing, Rogan’s post has received over 100,000 reposts, 416,000 likes and the video of his interview with Musk has been viewed over 22 million times.
But Rogan’s shift in political leaning has been brought into focus by many on social media, who have jumped on his Trump endorsement to remind everyone of how critical the former Fear Factor host has been of the former President.
Journalist Mehdi Hasan shared a 2021 quote from Rogan where the 57-year-old labelled Trump as “so f**king dangerous” because he “can incite a bunch of morons to do something really f**king stupid” in reference to the January 6 insurrection from earlier that same year.
Another clip, this time from 2022, was shared in which Rogan claims Trump was on Adderall during his time in office between 2016 and 2020. Rogan also refers to Trump as a “man baby” in the same clip, while laughing at the former President for how he had to reportedly be treated by White House staffers during his term in the Oval Office.
Left-wing political commentator Kyle Kulinski also shared a compilation video of Rogan speaking in glowing terms about Michelle Obama and how he believed she would definitely win a US Presidential election were she ever to run, describing the former First Lady as “the wife of the best President we’ve ever had in our lifetime.” The host is also seen revealing “I have never voted right-wing in my entire life,” in another clip in the compilation before the video moves onto him revealing he would vote for Bernie Sanders, who is also a previous guest of the show.
Kulinsky captioned the video, “Rogan went from saying stuff like this to endorsing a corrupt billionaire authoritarian conman warmonger who stands against virtually every policy he claimed to believe in.”
Rogan interviewed Trump on the Joe Rogan Experience in the weeks leading up to the election while revealing that Vice President Kamala Harris had also been willing to appear as a guest, but Rogan explained that he was unwilling to travel to interview her, believing his podcast works better recording it from his studio in Austin, Texas.
