- Colin Farrell has won his first SAG award for The Penguin
- It follows the show’s previous WGA award win in early February
- Does this mean that The Penguin could sweep The Emmys?

Colin Farrell was one of the big winners of the SAG awards 2025, taking home his first Screen Actors Guild trophy for his leading role in The Penguin.
Farrell is now the proud recipient of the Best Actor in a Limited Series trophy for his portrayal of Batman baddie Oswald Cobblepot in MAX’s spin-off series from Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Farrell accepted the award from screen icon Jamie Lee Curtis who called him out for giving her Covid before presenting him with the statue.
“And the Actor goes to… the man who gave me covid at the Golden Globes: Colin Farrell,” Curtis deadpanned.
““Guilty as charged,” responded Farrell, once on stage. “But Brendan Gleeson f*cking gave it to me! So I was just spreading the love.”

The win marks another positive step for a comic book series that continues to defy expectations to take home award show accolades.
Could The Penguin sweep The Emmys?
Following Farrell’s SAG Awards win, The Penguin could be on track to become a major disruptor at The Emmys later this year.
Just a few weeks back, the Lauren LeFranc-developed series swooped up the Best Limited Series Award at the Writer’s Guild of America awards. It beat out heavy hitters like True Detective: Night Country and Netflix drama Ripley.
Meanwhile, both Farrell and his co-star Cristin Miloti – who played The Penguin villain Sofia Falcone – were both nominated for Golden Globes, with Farrell taking home Best Acting in a Limited Series.
“I guess it’s prosthetics from here on out…” he joked while accepting that award, hinting at future seasons of The Penguin that are surely in the works.
The move signals a transition in the realm of television show accolades, with awards bodies celebrating stories from comic book sources.
The Penguin’s Golden Globes success marked the first time a DC series had been nominated at the long-running awards ceremony. Its win only solidifies this change in tone.
When are the 2025 Emmys?
