- A X thread claims that Interscope Records messed with Selena Gomez’s album
- The thread alleges the label tried to tank her I Said I Love You First album
- The thread was made by user @Wylleve

A thread on the social media site X has alleged that Interscope Records tried to sabotage Selena Gomez and her album and music. The viral thread has over 300 reposts and details alleged instances of the record label deliberately trying to stop Gomez’s music from being successful. Her recent album, I Said I Love You First, with fiancé Benny Blanco, has charted well.

The album was announced by the couple in February 2025. Gomez and Blanco have been dating since 2023 and were engaged in December 2024. The album is about a lot of their experiences as a couple and as individuals. Sunset Blvd is a love song, whereas Younger And Hotter Than Me is a personal ballad about Gomez’s thoughts.
Stan accounts on X have tried to rally support for Gomez because they feel she has been the victim of her record label. Despite everything being alleged, let’s break down what the thread said.

Interscope boycotting Selena Gomez new album!

📍A thread pic.twitter.com/ui83EqyFMU
The thread begins by saying Gomez wanted to release a “mid-tempo album”, similar to her hit songs like Fetish and Good For You. Allegedly, the thread says Gomez was forced to release songs like Single Soon and Love On, even though they didn’t do very well.
Then the thread allegs that the songs were released and an argument broke out between Gomez and Interscope Records where she said, “Did you see what my fans said about these shitty songs?”
The thread then went on to provide ‘evidence’ for the rumor. The account said Gomez posted a story on 14 March that said, “I hear you.” The image she posted was a still from her hit song Good For You.
Selena then posted this story on 03/14/2025 with the caption “I hear you.” Since the argument, Selena had been considering changing labels and switching her team because they were trying to manipulate her into releasing what they thought was best. pic.twitter.com/adnF6BbGjh

The claims, however, about Gomez changing labels are all alleged.
After this, the post goes on to say that Gomez announced her collaboration album with Blanco, and this could be a hint to Gomez having bad relations with Interscope, since the album was not released under them.
Fuel was reportedly added to the fire when, on 21 March, Interscope only posted one photo of the album, which makes sense considering it was an independent project.
Now onto the juicy stuff.
How did the user allege that Interscope is sabotaging Gomez’s album?

As to how Gomez’s fans thought the label was sabotaging her album, they said Playboi Carti’s album release had something to do with it.
Interscope seems to be sabotaging her album. After reports that ISILYF could debut at #1 on Billboard, they dropped Playboi Carti’s deluxe less than 10 days after its release (???) seemingly to block Selena’s sales. pic.twitter.com/jgR4fHhKOd

Another point the user made was that Kirsten Stubbs, the Head of Digital at the label, posted a story celebrating recent albums, but excluded Gomez’s allegedly.
With supposed screenshots, the user alleges that Stubbs blocked Gomez’s fans who asked why she was not promoting the album. Following that, the thread says Gomez’s mother liked a post backing the idea that Interscope was sabotaging Gomez, along with other artists.
In a recent update, the user alleges that I Said I Love You First “was unlinked from Selena Gomez’s name by the label”.

However, Interscope has not commented on this, so take this with a pinch of salt.
Has Gomez commented on the allegations made in the thread?
No, Gomez has not said anything confirming what the user said, but this is probably because she can’t anyway. To be clear, everything claimed by the Gomez fan account is based on speculation and opinion and has not been verified.
