On a recent podcast appearance with her fiancé, Benny Blanco, Selena Gomez said women have it harder on social media than men. Gomez and Blanco were on the On Purpose With Jay Shetty Podcast to discuss their new album, I Said I Love You First. The couple has been working on a collaboration album for a few months, which they announced in February.

The album has four songs released that have had the internet talking. Sunset Blvd was a sexy song that seemed to be dedicated to Blanco, and Younger And Hotter Than Me is a sad and nostalgic song.

However, it was Gomez’s comments on social media and social media hate that had people talking. Find out what she said here.

The Sunset Blvd singer spoke about her perspective after Blanco said he doesn’t listen to social media hate. The music producer has been constantly trolled about his looks after he and Gomez announced they were dating in 2023.

“I was also going to point out that women have it much worse,” Gomez said. “From my perspective, it’s pretty wild, and I think this isn’t news to anybody, that obviously women have a lot more intense feelings from their appearance to what they’re wearing to everything.”

Gomez says her perception of getting ready for events has changed thanks to online comments. She likes to just take pictures and be done with social media, she says.

She says it is her character that gets judged because she is not, “It’s the character that gets judged, it’s the way I’m not white enough, I’m not Mexican enough.”

The singer also went on to reveal that she sees lots of things come up, and she “falls victim to looking at things,” which nobody cares about when it comes to men. Well said Sel!

On what these things are, Gomez says she has had lots of things said about her that focus on her weight. The singer has the autoimmune disease Lupus, which can cause weight fluctuations.

“Oh yeah, my weight’s a big one too,” Gomez said. “It’s really making me sad and — not even sad, because I’m not a victim…I just think it’s made me a tad bitter, and I feel really guilty for saying that, but it’s true,” she concluded.

How heartbreaking! We hope that Gomez is ok!
