  • The new season will follow the quintet throughout the 2024/25 season
  • The second season will air in fall of 2025
  • NBA fans have had mixed reactions towards the second season lineup

If you’re already entrenched in the 10-part behind-the-scenes behemoth that is ‘Starting 5’ on Netflix, or if you’ve already dribbled your way through all 10 epi…wait, no, saying ‘dribbled’ there sounded weird. Basically, if you’re a basketball fan and a fan of discovering how much Jimmy Butler wants to become a barista and how much time LeBron dedicates to transforming himself into Beetlejuice for Halloween, then some very, very good news is coming your way.

The lineup for Netflix’s second season of their outstanding ‘Starting Five’ docuseries has been announced and, predictably for a season that is following a debut lineup of LeBron James, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, Jayson Tatum and Domantas Sabonis, the next round of episodes is Naismith Memorial worthy.

Season two will be following Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton, Los Angeles Clippers’ James Harden, Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown throughout the current 2024–25 season, with the season premiering in Fall of 2025.

Despite the All-Star packed nature of that lineup, however, there are still plenty of NBA fans who are, quelle suprise, unimpressed.

Seriously, complaining about an entire season of television starring James Harden. How little grass have you touched to not want that? Worth the price of a Netflix subscription alone.

In fairness, there were plenty of positive responses to the news, with Harden’s inclusion being cause for celebration among certain sections of NBA fans, who seem very well versed in the sort of establishments the 10-time All-Star frequents in his spare time.

‘Starting 5’ has enjoyed a tremendous response to its first season, with the introduction of Anthony Edwards, in particular, All-Star worthy television. We just hope season two features the reactions of each individual player to seeing Miami Heat’s new Dwyane Wade statue.
