Super Bowl 2025 AKA Super Bowl LIX is fast approaching and will see the Philadelphia Eagles face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in a hotly-anticipated rematch. If the latter wins the event, it’ll mark their third Super Bowl victory in a row, so a lot is at stake.

For sports fans, that’s likely to be the focal point of the event. However, for non-sports heads, the Super Bowl has become one of the biggest days for pop-culture thanks to its abundance of movie trailers and star-studded TV spots and adverts.

This cross-pollination of sports and movies is no accident. Despite many of us turning our attention to streaming in recent years, sporting events are still very much tune-in appointment viewing. For reference, 2023’s Super Bowl attracted a record 123.7 million viewers watching both live and via streaming services.

That’s a lot of eyeballs – and movie studios want access to them. That said, it doesn’t come cheap. With Fox reportedly charging around $7-8 million for a 30-second ad, not everyone can afford to have their products featured.

Only three movie studios will air their upcoming products during the 2025 Super Bowl. These include Paramount, Disney and Universal.

While unconfirmed, below you’ll find some movies and TV shows that could debut trailers or shorter, TV spots at some point during the big game.

Disney

Disney is no stranger to the Super Bowl, frequently showcasing its upcoming projects during this annual event. The studio has no shortage of big-name features on the horizon too, with Pixar’s new animated feature Elio and its live-action Lilo & Stitch and Snow White features each strong contenders for a Super Bowl appearance.

However, it’s their Marvel-arm that may get most people talking. With Fantastic Four: The First Steps, Thunderbolts* and Captain America: Brave New World each due out later this year, we wouldn’t be surprised if any of these make an appearance. That said, reports suggest that only two out of these three MCU projects will be teased. Which one will it be?

Paramount

With Mission: Impossible instalment Final Reckoning sprinting towards screens Tom Cruise-style, it’s likely this last epic will get a tease during the 2025 Super Bowl during one of Paramount’s slots.

The studio’s Rhianna-fronted animated Smurfs movie could also be featured, while The Boys star Jack Quaid could be on hand to show audiences his new action comedy Novocaine via a trailer or a short TV spot.

Universal
