The first footage for the new James Gunn Superman has been shared – and fans have wasted no time sharing their thoughts on David Corenswet’s Man of Steel.

Gunn debuted the footage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas earlier this week. The Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker – who was poached by DC from Marvel – preempted the clips by reminding attendees that his take on the character was designed to remind you of his positivity.

“This is a movie that celebrates kindness and human love,” the director told a crowd full of theatre operators.

According to those in attendance, Gunn teased some behind-the-scenes moments from the film alongside footage that involved Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane interviewing the DC hero.

However, judging by early thoughts posted on to social media, it was Krypto the Super Dog who stole the show. Fans had previously seen this amped-up pup in the movie’s first trailer, where he saved Kal El from the aftermath of what looks like a brutal battle.

So what did fans say about the footage? Read on to find out.

Many took to X to share their thoughts on what they’d seen and to share scene descriptions.

The account DCU Hype explained that the footage Gunn shared showed Krypto taking a battle-weary Supes to the Fortress of Solitude.

“Automatons help care for him, turning the Fortress to direct the sunlight right into him,” he added.

The Movie Podcast also provided a rundown of what CinemaCon was shown, highlighting some key elements like the movie’s new score and an “S shaped door” housing the Fortress of Solitude.

“The Fortress looks AWESOME”

Others turned their attention to Krypton, with Matt Ramos saying, “ADORE Krypto & Clark dynamic, movie looks beautiful & vibrant, the Fortress looks AWESOME…”

Although, others thought the dog might be getting a little too much attention.

Is Bradley Cooper in the movie?

Footage aside, Gunn’s Superman may have welcomed a new addition to its cast, with the filmmaker’s Guardians of the Galaxy co-star reportedly Bradley Cooper joining the production.

These rumors first started to swirl in late March when an X account suggested that Cooper could be playing Kal-El’s Kryptonian father, Jor-El.

As it stands, this news has yet to be confirmed by Gunn or anyone at DC Studios.
