Superman has revealed its first teaser poster ahead of a Superman trailer debut scheduled for later this week.
Director James Gunn’s Superman movie features relative newcomer David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel. Corenswet inherits the role from Henry Cavill who wore Kal-El’s iconic red and blue tights for a number of appearances across DC’s former cinematic universe.
The new poster doesn’t reveal too much but it’s enough to whet the appetite for things to come. The one-sheet shows Corenswet’s Superman in motion and cutting a heroic stance amid blurs of red, white and blue.

The poster is reminiscent of the promotional images used for Christopher Reeve’s take on the character in 1978’s Superman: The Movie. Posters for this film also featured motion blurs and images of Superman in flight.
Gunn’s poster is accompanied by a simple, two-word tag-line that reads: “Look Up.”
While a synopsis for the movie remains missing, Warner Bros. has revealed some new details about Gunn’s new film.
As the press release accompanying the poster explains, “In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”
When will the trailer arrive?
The first Superman trailer will land on Thursday 19 December 2024.
The news was confirmed by the director himself via a message posted to his social media channels that also included a short piece of video footage.

In the clip, we saw shots of a metal Superman logo, something many fans believe to be the hero’s secret hideout, the Fortress of Solitude.
Like the movie’s poster, the teaser trailer also featured the tag line “Look Up.”

Who is starring in James Gunn’s new Superman movie?
In addition to Corenswet, Gunn’s Superman movie will also feature The Marvelous Mrs. Marvel star Rachel Brosnahan as the intrepid Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane. Mad Max: Fury Road star Nicholas Hoult will play Superman’s arch nemesis, Lex Luthor.
Together, the trio will be joined by an ensemble cast that includes Barry star Anthony Carrigan, The Suicide Squad’s Nathan Fillon, For All Mankind’s Edi Gathegi, Alien: Romulus actor Isabela Merced and Booksmart’s Skyler Gisondo.
Sara Sampaio from At Midnight, The Moody’s María Gabriela de Faría, Selma’s Wendell Pierce, Andor’s Alan Tudyk, Birdbox actor Pruitt Taylor Vince and Greedy People’s Neva Howell will also star.
