- The lyric appears in SZA’s new song Scorsese Baby Daddy
- The song is from SZA’s new album Lana
- The lyrics allude to a crush

SZA continues to raise eyebrows with her lyrics. We didn’t think that “I Need a Big Boy” from her SNL sketch could be any worse, but Scorsese Baby Daddy Is. It’s even worse than her warning she “might kill her ex”. SZA’s song Kill Bill with that lyric is inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s movie of the same name.
The Snooze singer released her new album Lana on December 20 with the Scorsese-named track. Lana is the deluxe album to her last album SOS.
In the song, SZA references the iconic director Martin Scorsese and his many hit films and characters, just not explicitly. She only name-drops him! Scorsese has had a successful career in directing and creating cult classics such as The Wolf of Wall Street and Taxi Driver.
SZA has also been busy in the past few years, just recently Kendrick Lamar announced a tour with her, and in 2022 she released her second highly-anticipated studio album SOS.
But with Lana just releasing, we need to break down the lyrics to this weird song.
What does SZA say in Scorsese Baby Daddy?

SZA talks about destructive NSFW habits saying, “I rolled up all my problems / And then I smoked about it / I could’ve called my mom up / I’d rather f— about it / Addicted to the drama / Scorsese baby daddy.”
She’s referencing her crush on Scorsese or one of his characters, we think. Considering that she is 35 and he is 82, that is a weird crush to have. But hey, some women like an older man.
The 35-year-old also seems to think she’s in an action movie because she goes on to fantasize about being in a scenario that would be in a Scorsese flick. She sings: I would pretend to do my favorite man, he’d call me tasty / Furious lady, then I wonder if I could do, baby / One day, I’ll understand all that it takes to be a lady.”
We’re no lyrical analysts here, but it sounds as if she’s talking about some kind of risk with a dangerous man.
If you’re wondering who it could be one of the leading men from Scorsese’s movies. It could be a corrupt finance bro like Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) or a sleazy mafia dude like Nicky Santoro from Casino (Joe Pesci).
She might have DiCaprio in mind as her leading man (who could blame her) because DiCaprio is set to work with Scorcese again on a biopic about singer Frank Sinatra.
Well, the rest of the song is pretty NSFW, so if you want to see the Scorsese’s Baby Daddy lyrics, look at your own risk.
How did the internet react to Scorsese’s Baby Daddy?
As they should, the internet went crazy over the song. Just the title itself is crazy.
One user on X wrote: “I need Martin Scorsese to listen and react to Scorsese Baby Daddy right NOW.”
Fans went crazy over the song, regardless of some of its out-of-pocket lyrics. The song has a soft-pop rock production which SZA’s fans seemed to love.
One user quoted the lyric with a gif of Carrie Bradshaw dancing. Yeah, that is a classic.
Others praised the composition of the song more so than the lyrics.
Another X user wrote: “The production on Scorsese’s Baby Daddy… omg I’m in love”.
Finally, other fans declared it as the best song on the 15-track album.
In a reaction to Billboard naming Crybaby as the best track on Lana, one fan disagreed, saying:
“So close it’s actually Scorsese’s Baby Daddy”.
We’re not sure Scorsese would agree, but we will keep you updated if he reacts to the song.
