Dexter: Resurrection generated excitement when it was announced in July 2024. Fans wanted a sequel after Dexter: New Blood to clarify Dexter’s fate and reveal what happened to other characters. Although the full cast of Dexter: Resurrection hasn’t been revealed, Michael C. Hall will return as the clever serial killer. Hall has portrayed Dexter since the original Showtime series debuted in 2006. Dexter aired until 2013. He will appear in the Dexter: Resurrection cast alongside new and old members.
A hit for Showtime
Dexter quickly became a hit for the network. Based on the 2004 novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter, the show’s Season 1 finale drew over a million viewers and earned Michael C. Hall a Golden Globe nomination. Since its debut, the series has led to three spin-offs: Dexter: New Blood, Dexter: Original Sin, and the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection.

Four years after the release of Original Sin in 2021, the third Dexter spin-off will arrive. Fans have speculated about the cast since the announcement, and with some original cast members returning, the speculation about the plot continues. Hall has said that the series will pick up “right where we left off,” leading fans to believe that Dexter: Resurrection will follow directly after New Blood.
As excitement for the series grows, fan theories about the plot, cast, and setting are circulating online. While some cast members have been announced, some details remain under wraps. Here’s what we know so far about the Dexter: Resurrection cast.
New Dexter: Resurrection cast members

Dexter: Resurrection announced Uma Thurman as a cast member. Thurman is best known for her roles in two Quentin Tarantino films, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill. The announcement appeared on Dexter’s TikTok account in late January 2025.
Thurman will play Charley, the Head of Security for billionaire Leon Prater. Her character description reads: “Charley is the Head of Security for mysterious billionaire Leon Prater. A former Special Ops officer, she worked various high-level private security jobs before becoming Prater’s resourceful and meticulous right-hand woman.”
Filming for the show began in January 2025, and since then, news about new cast members has been scarce. However, Hall and his co-star Jack Alcott, were spotted on set recently. Alcott plays Dexter’s teenage son, Harrison Morgan. This confirms that at least they have returned.
Speaking of returning members, who else is back for another round in the Dexter universe?
Returning Dexter: Resurrection cast members
As we briefly mentioned, Alcott will return as Harrison. Alcott’s character played a pivotal role in New Blood when he tracked down his long-lost father. In many ways, Dexter’s son became his own undoing (take that as you will), and we expect the show to explore this more in Resurrection.
Several other Dexter veterans have also confirmed their returns. James Remar will reprise his role as Dexter’s deceased father, Harry Morgan. Meanwhile David Zayas will return as the fan-favorite Detective Angel Batista. La Passion is back in action!
Batista made a brief appearance in the final episodes of New Blood, where he assisted Dexter’s ex and police chief, Angela Bishop (Julia Jones), with an investigation into Dexter’s dark past. But we won’t spoil any more details.
