This White Lotus star has an unexpected past, and it has helped shape the way he wants his acting career to look.
Tayme Thapthimthong is starring in the third series of the HBO show, which is set in Thailand. The actor knew the country already as he is a dual British-Thai national and served in the country’s army.
His time in the military gave him a taste for adrenaline, prompting Thapthimthong to begin dreaming about potentially starring in an action flick. It also allowed him to get along with all sorts of people and be more accepting of their personalities.

“I can see myself doing action movies and spy thrillers in the future as I do believe that my time training in the Army taught me a lot, and I would love to display my skills with weapons and my physicality on the big screen! Also, the army taught me how to get along with other people from all walks of life and to accept that everyone is different but special in their way,” he told V magazine.

Thapthimthong is playing security guard Gaitok, who has spent the entire show trying to woo Mook (Lalisa Manobal/Blackpink’s Lisa). Trouble seems to await him on the horizon as the gun he left in his office has gone walkies.

He was supposed to get trained on how to use it, but instead, he opted to accompany the object of his affection to her dance performance.
It was purchased after the hotel’s shop was the victim of a robbery. The crime took place while new besties Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) were looking at the wares.

What has Blackpink’s Lisa said about the show?
Manobal made her acting debut in the Mike White-created show as one of the hotel’s on-site wellness gurus.

Reflecting on the similarities between her and the role of Mook in Variety, she said Mook is very similar to her “but flirtier and lady-like — I’m more like a tomboy.”
The K-pop icon also gave insight how she was “so nervous”, saying, I was sweating. I was like, ‘I can’t remember my lines. I’m blanked!’”
