Thunderbolts* reveals who has bought Avengers Tower

One enduring question in the MCU has been who bought Avengers Tower – and now the Thunderbolts* director has confirmed its new owner.

The Avengers Tower became iconic in the MCU as the base of the World’s Mightiest Heroes during their pomp as a superhero team. But it was revealed by Tony Stark in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) that he was selling it, as the team fell apart in the events of Civil War.

But since then, while we all knew the Tower was still standing, we didn’t know who now owned it. Until now.

The Watchtower

For a while, it has been rumoured that that CIA Director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is the new owner of Avengers Tower and now it has been confirmed that she is.

Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier admitted this in an interview with Empire ahead of the release of the movie on May 2.

“We know what that tower means,” Schreier said. “Who’s the person you would least like to own that tower, that means so much to do many people? Can you use that as a symbol of things taking a darker turn?”

The latest trailer also revealed that Valentina – played by Julie Louis-Dreyfus – has been making some alterations to the tower, adding a structure on top that looks like The Sentry’s Watchtower.

Thunderbolts* to face the Sentry?

What role The Sentry will play in the movie hasn’t been made clear. While the character in the comics is hugely powerful, he also experiences mental ill health – and this can manifest in his alter-ego The Void, which isn’t a force for good.

While little is know about the character’s role in Thunderbolts* we were recently given an idea of his costume, thanks to collectible figurine maker Funko, which has released images of its models from the movie, which are available for pre-order.
