Walton Goggins thinks that The White Lotus series three viewers are about to fall “deeply in love” with his character Rick.

The actor admitted that the fictional character is “very hard to understand” as he keeps his cards to his chest. It took him four episodes to tell his girlfriend Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) why he took them to Thailand.

Before explaining to his partner, he wanted to find the owner of the luxury resort in Bangkok because he is believed to have killed his father, Rick was remarkable for how uncommunicative he was.

“I mean, he starts off – he’s very taciturn, right? He’s quiet. The audience doesn’t find out the reason why he’s here [in Thailand] until episode four, so he’s very hard to understand the chaos and the sadness that he’s carrying with him. He has been running from his past for a very long time,” Goggins told Forbes.

He later added, “Hopefully, when you find out the motivations of why he’s there, hopefully your dislike of him turns into, if not liking, understanding and then empathy and then hopefully rooting for him and then falling deeply in love with him. I hope that’s where your heart ultimately nets out.”
