We also got some new plot details. Jurassic World Rebirth will take audiences to a new island. This one was used as a research facility for the original Jurassic Park.
It’s here where the most dangerous new dinosaurs were created, with those deemed too scary for the main park left behind.
However, the trailer also gave us a glimpse at a brand new dinosaur that looks set to be the big bad of Edwards’ film. It’s huge, intimidating and doesn’t look too friendly – but what exactly is it?
Here’s what we know about that new dinosaur in Jurassic World Rebirth.
The new dinosaur in Jurassic World Rebirth explained

Of all the stuff featured in the first Jurassic World Rebirth trailer, its new dino villain is definitely the most memorable. It appears about half-way through and we see it terrorise many of the movie’s new stars.
We also get a little look at its appearance. Although much of its screentime is spent hidden in shadow. Its arms and hands look a little more monster than dinosaur, while its domed head (does it even have eyes?) is eerily reminiscent of the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise.

Considering Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by the same guy who gave us Monsters and Godzilla, these otherworldly influences aren’t too surprising. In fact, Edwards discussed the creation of this new creature during an interview with Vanity Fair, comparing it to the Rancor from Return of the Jedi.
“When you make a creature, you get a big, massive pot and you pour in your favorite monsters from other films and books,” he explained. “Some Rancor went in there, some H.R. Giger went in there, a little T. rex went in there…”
The Xenomorph influences match up. Plus those arms and its body shape are definitely Rancor-esque.
Throw into the mix the fact that Jurassic World Rebirth’s new location houses the “worst of the worst” creations cooked up by the park’s genetics staff and we’re sure that this mystery dino has plenty of tricks up its sleeve that are just waiting to be discovered.
When is the movie released?

The new movie will be released theatrically on 2 July 2025.
The movie will star Johansson as a covert operations expert Zora Bennett. She’s leading a mission into a dangerous, dinosaur-filled location. Together with dino-expert Dr. Henry Loomis (Bailey), they must extract DNA from three of the largest surviving dinosaurs.
If they succeed, they can help create a medicine that could save countless lives. However, as with everything that happens in Jurassic Park, things rarely go to plan.
Que running and screaming.
