Cynthia Erivo shot to global stardom after the release of Wicked Part 1 last November.
Alongside her co-star Ariana Grande, the actor, 38, was given numerous nominations on the 2025 awards circuit for her role as Elphaba in the Jon M. Chu-directed movie-musical adaptation.
While Erivo may not have been successful in her categories – with many fans speculating that she and Grande will reap the rewards after the second movie is released this November – it’s far from the British star’s first taste of glory.
Before she was the Wicked Witch of the West, Erivo had already received Tony, Grammy and Daytime Emmy awards for different roles.

In 2016, Erivo wowed audiences with her role as Celie in The Color Purple on Broadway – so much so, that the star was awarded the Best Leading Actress in a Musical at the Tonys.
A year later, Erivo was the recipient of the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program, thanks to the same role.
Also in 2017, Erivo picked up a Grammy award for Best Musical Theater Album for the show.
