Sadie Sink has just made one of her biggest career movies! The young actress has been cast in an upcoming Spider-Man 4 movie alongside Tom Holland. Deadline reported the news and said Sink could play Jean Grey, an X-Men mutant who has been portrayed before by the likes of Sophie Turner. Marvel and Sony haven’t commented, but Deadline has warned her role will be “significant”.
Sink has made waves since joining the Stranger Things cast in season 2 to play Max Mayfield. The hit Netflix show will finish later this year with season 5 being the final season.

Currently, the 22-year-old’s musical film O’Dessa has just been released so she has been busy on the press tour. However, she has not yet confirmed that she will be joining the Spiderverse, despite fans waiting with bated breath. Stranger Things finished filming in December 2024 so the actress will have lots of time to explore new acting roles.

Who is Sadie Sink?
Sadie Sink – Life Before Spiderman 4
Sadie Sink is an American actress. Sink was born on 16 April 2002 in Brenham Texas. Sink is one of five siblings her mom is a math teacher and her dad is a football coach. From a young age, she was always interested in performing arts and would watch musicals and productions.
At seven years old she began acting classes and joined a local production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. A year later Sink had a leading role in a production of The Secret Garden. From this point on, her family encouraged her to pursue acting as a profession and Sink began homeschooling while acting.
Early career days
As a child Sink was a frequent performer in productions by Theater Under the Stars. In 2011 she appeared in White Christmas and 2012 she appeared in Annie. Sink played a standby for several characters in the production and starred in it until July 2013. When a cast member playing Annie departed, Sink and another actress took on the roles of Annie and Duffy. The role lasted until January 2014.
While performing in Annie, Sink made her television debut in a guest role on the drama The Americans. In 2014 she appeared in an episode of Blue Bloods. Her early TV work made her interested in film acting. In 2015 she landed a role in the ABC thriller American Oddysey but it only lasted for one season.
Back to Broadway, Sink played a young Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience. In 2016 she made her film debut in sports drama Chuck, now onto her big break!
Sink joins Stranger Things
In September 2016 Sink auditioned for the role of Max Mayfield in the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. The show had one season and was a huge success. After learning that Sink was 14, the casting directors thought she was too old but the teenage actress begged them to let her do more readings. The chemistry between her and Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo helped her land the role.
The actress was praised for her role as Max after joining season 2 which shot her into stardom.
In 2018 she began to delve into modelling, making her debut at Paris Fashion Week. Other brands she walked for included Miu Miu and Kate Spade. She returned to film appearing in The Glass Castle and Eli. The actress continued to play Max in the third season of Stranger Things.
In 2021, Sink had another major film breakthrough with Netflix’s Fear Street Part Two: 1978. The film was part of the Fear Street horror trilogy, about teenagers who want to break the curse lorded over their town. The preparation for the role included learning stunts and watching classic slasher films like Scream. Also that year, she starred in Fear Street Part Three: 1666.
Mainstream roles
One of Sink’s well-known roles came in 2021 when she starred in Taylor Swift’s music video for her 10-minute version of All Too Well. The video was a short film to accompany the song that Sink starred in alongside Dylan O’Brien. Swift praised the actress. Shockingly, Swift even said: “If [Sadie] had said no, I wouldn’t have made the film.”
Following the fourth season of Stranger Things which aired in 2022, Sink won the Hollywood Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Streaming Series, Drama.
After Stranger Things aired, Sink’s drama film The Whale came out which she starred in alongside Brendan Fraser. In the movie, she played his estranged daughter, and critics praised her acting in an otherwise darker roller than she had played. When the film premiered, Sink received a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Young Actor/Actress. Towards the end of 2022, she played the leading role in the drama Zoe.
Other work of Sadie Sink
In July 2023 the actress became an ambassador for Armani Beauty. In 2024 she starred in the thriller film Sacrifice and the recently released musical film O’Dessa. This year, Sink is set to be a very busy lady, the actress is going to return to Broadway to star in the play John Proctor is the Villian.
Then she will start filming Spider-Man 4 alongside some of the franchise’s original stars. Her role in Spider-Man 4 is still undisclosed. Bets by fans have thought she will play Jean Grey or Mary Jane. Keep guessing people!
