Weezer bassist wife shot: What happened?

It looks like Jillian Lauren got caught up in an on-going police search that took place on Tuesday 8 April in the Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles.
Many key details were shared via an LAPD press release.
According to reports, this unusual incident happened as Los Angeles authorities were trying to find hit-and-run suspects in a residential part of town.
The suspects were believed to have fled from the scene of a car accident and ended up on the same street where Shriner and his wife live.
When the commotion spilled over onto the Shriner residence, Jillian Lauren allegedly appeared from her home and into her back yard with a weapon in hand. Despite being told “numerous” times to drop the firearm, she was shot in the shoulder after pointing it at officers.
Local media reported that Jillian Lauren had opened fire on to one of the suspected hit-and-run suspects, believing they were trying to gain entry to her property.
What happened after she was shot?
After she was shot, Jillian Lauren went back into her house and stayed there for about half an hour. After this time, she came outside with her babysitter and surrendered to police.
Both were taken into custody and a nine-millimetre handgun was removed from the Shriner home. Jillian Lauren was later charged with attempted murder.
