The Super Bowl’s a massive event for fans of both sport and music – and it’s almost time for Super Bowl 2025.

With the event getting closer, the NFL playoffs have already begun. Consequently, this means that the teams who will play should be decided very soon.

Here’s everything you need to know about the football event of the year:

When and where is Super Bowl 2025?

The 59th Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 9 at Caesar’s Superdome, New Orleans, the home of the New Orleans Saints. It will start at 5:30pm local time.

New Orleans last hosted the Super Bowl in 2013 and was planning to do so last year. However, changes to the season’s game order and scheduling conflicts means Las Vegas hosted instead.

We’ll know who is playing once the play-offs are done. As it stands, last year’s winners the Kansas City Chiefs stand a good chance of playing for the title for the second year in a row. Even people unfamiliar with football may now have heard of them thanks to the fact that Travis Kelce, who is Taylor Swift‘s boyfriend, plays for them.

However, they could face some stiff competition from the likes of the Detroit Lions, who have had an insanely good season. Funnily enough, they are the only franchise active throughout the entire Super Bowl era who have never actually reached one.

As per usual, we can expect a show of epic proportions for the Super Bowl half-time show. This year, Kendrick Lamar will be taking center stage.

Lamar’s landmark halftime show follows his highly publicised exchange of diss tracks with Drake. One of these tracks, Not Like Us, proved a massive hit for Lamar – much to the chagrin of Drake, who may well endure the performance a song calling him a pedophile to a TV audience of over 100m people.

Lamar then followed it up with even more music in the form of his surprise released new album GNX, which came out in November. Some of its hits, from squabble up to wacced out murals, could therefore have a place in his setlist.

For some, the choice of Lamar for the slot was controversial. Some fans believed that Lil Wayne should have performed, seeing as he is from New Orleans. Indeed, Wayne said in September that the alleged snub “broke” him.

On wacced out murals, Lamar the difference in opinion – “I used to bump Tha Carter 3 [Wayne’s 2008 album]/ I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.” Later, he raps: “Got the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me.”
