- Scott Foley has been confirmed as a cast member for Scream 7
- He has appeared previously in the third movie in the series
- Announcement came on the same day another legacy character return was announced

Scott Foley has been announced as part of the cast of Scream 7 – and his inclusion has sent fans wild as it sparks so many questions about the new movie.
Deadline broke the news that Foley had signed up for Scream 7, which came just hours after it was also confirmed that Matthew Lillard would be reprising his role as Stu Macher too.
Foley is well known to fans of the Scream films, having played Roman Bridger in Scream 3.
Who was Roman Bridger in Scream 3?
Bridger first appears in Scream 3 as the director of Stab 3 – an in-universe movie based on the plot of the original Scream films, which Dewey Riley is an advisor on.
However, the movie is thrown into disarray when one of the actresses on Stab 3 is killed by Ghostface. Production is stopped, much to the frustration of Bridger. Ghostface later turns up at the home of another cast member where characters have gathered, killing a bodyguard and another cast member.
Meanwhile, Sydney Prescott is living quietly under an alias, fearing another killer attack. However, Ghostface discovers her location and phones her – a callback to the original movie – prompting Sydney to travel to Hollywood.
Later, a party is held for Bridger at a mansion. Ghostface turns up again, kills the remaining cast members and takes Dewey and Gail Weathers hostage. He then lures Sydney to the mansion, where he enters a secret screening roo. Once in the screening room, Ghostface enters and reveals himself to be Bridger.
Bridger then attempts to explain his reasoning for his killing spree. He was Sydney’s half-brother (same mother, Maureen, who died in the first Scream film) but when he tracked her down, she rejected him. Bridger then showed Billy Loomis – one of the original Ghostface killers – footage of Maureen with his father, triggering the events of the first Scream movie.
When Bridger found that Sydney found fame after those events, he made plans to kill her. However, when a fight between the two ensues, Sydney wins. At this point, Bridger tries to attack again and is shot in the head by Dewey.
Obviously that was thought to be the end of Bridger. But, as horror fans know, very little is ever certain, especially the death of an antagonist.
Scott Foley’s impact on Scream 7
This has raised many questions about the plots for Scream 7. How could Bridger (and Macher, for that matter) return, having been seemingly dead for many years?
Being horror, pretty much anything is possible. A long-lost twin? Seen in flashback? Somehow miraculously survived? We’ll have to wait and see when the movie arrives as the team behind it, as usual, aren’t saying anything.
Foley joins a range of actors returning to Scream for this movie. Other returning include Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox as Prescott and journalist Gale Weathers respectively, along with Lillard.
They’ll be joined by Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown as Chad and Mindy from 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream 6. The cast of Scream 7 is explained here.
