Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been given the honour of presenting Jane Fonda with the SAG Life Achievement Award.

Fonda, 87, is the 60th Life Achievement recipient and it will be her first award from the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (SAG-AFTRA). In a statement released upon hearing the news, she said “”I have been working in this industry for almost the entirety of my life and there’s no honor like the one bestowed on you by your peers”.

Louis-Dreyfus, while hasn’t starred alongside Fonda, was inspired by her. It was after watching the 2018 documentary Jane Fonda in Five Acts that she was inspired to create her podcast Wiser Than Me. Speaking on The View, the Veep star explained how after watching the documentary she asked herself “Why are we not hearing from all the older women?…I would really love to get life tidbits from older women, their advice and what they’ve learned along the way”. Fonda has since been a guest on her podcasts, where they discuss Fonda’s career spanning over six decades.
