Spider-Man 4 officially has a title.

The hugely anticipated fourth instalment of Marvel’s Tom Holland-fronted Spider-Man series will be called Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film is set to start shooting this summer.

The news was confirmed yesterday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas by the film’s director Destin Daniel Cretton. It was later confirmed by a range of outlets, including Variety.

Cretton is known for his work on another Marvel movie, 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Cretton takes over directing duties from filmmaker Jon Watts. He helmed each instalment of Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, including 2017’s Homecoming, 2019’s Far From Home and 2021’s No Way Home.

While Holland was unable to attend CinemaCon (he’s currently half-way across the world working on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey), he sent a video message to its Las Vegas crowd.

“I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie,” Holland explained in a video clip.

“I know we left you with a massive clip hanger at the end of ‘No Way Home,’ so ‘Spider Man: Brand New Day’ is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”

Considering Holland’s pretty infamous for spilling spoilers, the 28-year-old remained restrained during his video message.

“That’s all I’ve been allowed to say,” he confirmed to the crowd, “And I’m well over the hump of giving away spoilers, so don’t be worried. I’m not going to do that today.”

Meanwhile, the film’s director shed a little light on the pre-production work he’s been doing on the movie head of its summer 2025 shoot.

“I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world,” explained Cretton. “We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”

“I really wish I could introduce you to our entire team who are working their bloods off for this,” he added. “They are incredible, and you will see their amazing work when ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ hits your theaters.”

What happened at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home?

Released in 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home left Holland’s Peter Parker in a life-changing spot.

After wrangling villains from a number of different multiverses – complete with their own Spider-Men – the MCU’s Peter had his secret identity publicly outed by J.K Simmons’ J. Jonah Jameson.

Lucily, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) was able to offer him a fix although in order to restore his anonymity, Peter had to agree that everyone would forget who he was. Sadly, that included his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon).

That means, in Spider-Man: Brave New Day, we’ll catch up with a Spider-Man who’s forced to start from scratch.
