Patrick Schwarzenegger is being praised by fans for his defence of Ryan Coogler’s new horror movie Sinners. Schwarzenegger, 31, made a post defending the film against box office criticisms.

Sinners released on 18 April and had its opening weekend from that day until the 21. The film has rave reviews from critics and a 98 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, if that counts for anything! People are praising the grittiness of the movie and its cast, which includes Michael B. Jordan playing the gangster brothers Smoke and Stack and Jack O’ Connell as Remmick, the main antagonist.

Sinners stars Jordan playing two brothers who return to their quiet town of Clarksdale, Mississippi in the 1930s to open a juke joint. Little do they know the music of their cousin Sammie (Miles Canton) helps to summon evil they could never imagine.

Now fans are praising Schwarzenegger for his defence of the film. See what he said here.

On X, he responded to an article written by Variety about Sinners’ box office potential. The article talks about the $61 million the movie has amassed at the box office, yet also mentions the budget issue of $90 million. There is a worry the film won’t breakeven because of its budget.

Although the film is projected to make money. IndieWire highlights, “Warner Bros. also says it’s tracking ahead of movies like “Nope” internationally, suggesting it could have a longer runway abroad. In the coming weeks, it won’t have major competition on traditional or premium large format (PLF) screens until “Thunderbolts” opens in May”.

In a post quoting the article on his X account, The White Lotus star said, “It’s opening weekend…”

Many fans thought this was a simple way to defend the movie and its rave reviews. Variety has been in some hot water recently with some social media users accusing them of talking badly about Snow White actress Rachel Zegler.

With Sinners, some fans think it is racially motivated criticism, given that the cast is mostly black.

Nevertheless, fans praised the actor for his post.

How did fans react?

Online reactions were overwhelmingly positive. However, there were still some people who though that Schwarzenegger did not need to speak on the film.

On X, one user said, “Patrick’s calling out the media’s nonsense. Let ‘Sinners’ shine in peace!”

Another begrudgingly admitted he is right, and said, “Eh mmmm he ate that one lil’ thing I’ll give him that”.

It is not a little thing. It’s a big one!

Meanwhile, a fan of the actor said he has always “been on the right side of things” alongside his father Arnold.

Hilariously another user posted a GIF of Eric Effiong from Sex Education to show their agreement.

Let it be known we don’t tolerate Sinners slander over here.

Critical praise as well as box office success

On the other hand, another user took a more logical approach, pointing out that there is already critical praise for the film, so Coogler should be proud.

Another user thanked the star and said, “Thank you Patrick. This is why you’re the GOAT”.

Not impressed with Patrick Schwarzenegger or Sinners

Of course there are always people who don’t agree, and there were a few in the 31-year-old’s replies.

In disagreement, one user said, “This movie came out 3 days ago but I see you got the clicks you wanted”.

But over 60 million for three (now four days) is not bad at all.

In a similar viewpoint, another user disagreed with the actor and predicted the movie wouldn’t surpass $100 million. The user replied in a post, “Well, considering that movies usually see a 30% – 50% decline in viewership from opening weekend going into the next and the limited runs movies have in theaters nowadays before being ported to digital streaming services. It’ll barely break $100 million.”

So there you have it, it can still be a huge money maker. Stay tuned for news on the film,
