- First confirmation that a crossover movie is being made – set for release 2025 or 2026
- Collaboration was suggested at the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
- First link-up of the two series outside of comic books

After a decade of hints and rumors it has finally been confirmed that a crossover movie featuring the Transformers and G.I. Joe is in the works.
The announcement was made at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and the so far unnamed film will hit theaters in 2025 or 2026.
No other details of the film were announced, other than that cinema legend Steven Spielberg will serve as an executive producer, while Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, Mark Vahradian and Don Murphy will be producers.
A crossover had been hinted in the finale of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the most recent outing for that franchise in 2023. It saw the main protagonist, Noah Diaz, in an interview for a security job, where an agent hands him a business card with the iconic G.I. Joe logo on it, suggesting he is being recruited to the top-secret military organization.
This news will thrill fans of both series. While there have been crossovers between the Transformers and G.I. Joe in the comic books, it has never happened before in live-action or animated movies or series.
It is likely that this crossover film will be the next in the long-running Transformers franchise. However, it is not known if this film will also fit in with the G.I. Joe series of films; there have been three so far, with Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins being the most recent in 2021, which was also a reboot of the franchise. A fourth film, G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant has been said to be in development.
