After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that John Wick: Chapter 5 is in the works, with production set to begin on it sometime next year.

Major confirmation

Multiple sources have reported the confirmation that fans have been seeking ever since John Wick: Chapter Four was released. It is thought that the film will reach theaters in late 2026.

But most significantly, it has been reported that Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as the iconic hitman. In addition, Chad Stahelski has been reported to be back in the director’s chair for the new film.

However, there is little other information about the new film, including plotlines and cast members.

There had been speculation that John Wick: Chapter 4 would be the final film in the main franchise, as the ending was left ambiguous. In addition, Reeves and Stahelski have embarked on other projects since.

Universe expansion

But speculation about a fifth film never went away and increased recently when news broke that the John Wick universe is set for major expansion in the coming years. For instance, it was recently confirmed that a TV series, John Wick: Under the High Table, is being made. That will pick up the story after the events of John Wick: Chapter 4 and promises to combine new and old characters.

Reeves is on board as an executive producer – but possibly not in an acting role – as is Stahelski, who will also direct the pilot episode.

A spinoff film, John Wick Presents: Ballerina, is being produced with a release date planned for 2025. This film focuses on ballerina-assassin Rooney and takes place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.
