- Ariana Grande lost out on the Best Supporting Actress gong at the Golden Globes
- But her mom Joan achieved her own personal ‘goal’ – meeting Harrison Ford!
- ‘I’m dead,’ she joked of the encounter

Ariana Grande is known for her cheeky sense of humor.
And it turns out that she inherited it from her mother, Joan.
Although she sadly lost out on the Best Supporting Actress gong at the Golden Globes, Grande, 31 – who was nominated for her role as Glinda in the Jon M. Chu-directed adaptation of Wicked – was in high spirits as she attended the ceremony.
Chatting to Entertainment Tonight, Grande was eventually joined by Joan, who beamed with pride for her daughter.
But Grande’s nomination wasn’t the highlight of Joan’s night – as she also managed to meet Harrison Ford.
“No, I’m dead. That was my goal,” she said of the Indiana Jones actor. “We’ve pretty much done everything except Harrison Ford. And I don’t mean we did it… but you know what I mean.”
As her mom stumbled to correct herself, Grande’s mouth dropped and she placed her hand over her chest, before stepping to the side laughing.
Joan then jokingly asked the interviewer, “Can we delete that please?”
‘I was proud every moment, since she was born’
Of course, Joan also spoke about her daughter’s achievement.
“There are no words. I mean, how can I even talk about it? She’s magnificent – in every way, though,” she said. “It’s every way: it’s inside, outside and in everything she does.”
Of Grande’s nomination – an award which she lost to Zoe Saldaña in Emilia Pérez – Joan went on, “When people said, ‘The nomination is really all that counts,’ I understand it now. Because what an honor to be nominated, and it’s amazing.
“And to follow it with a win would be, even more so. It’s just an amazing thing. And what she accomplished and what she did in this movie is spectacular.”
Joan added, “I was proud every moment, since she was born, actually.”
Ariana Grande talks matching tattoos with her co-star

Joan – and her encounter with Harrison Ford! – weren’t the only thing discussed in the interview.
Grande also talked about the matching tattoos she shares with her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the Broadway adaptation.
“It was everything, it was so much fun. We did our first round the week we did [Glinda’s song] Popular,” revealed Grande. “We got the first one, which is little hearts on the backs of our legs – I got an E for Elphaba, and she has a G for Galinda. And then we got our poppies that same night.”
Cynthia and I, we have a lot now. Mine are covered with my gloves today, but there are plenty.”
But if Joan thought she was going to get away without also being roped into getting some ink, her daughter had other ideas.
“She is yet to get any, but she will someday hopefully,” she said. “My 99-year-old nonna got one with me, so she needs… you have to get one at some point!”
