• Artist uses odd media – including fruit as the canvas for pieces
  • Her artworks are startlingly realistic
  • Time-lapse videos show the work involved

For centuries, fruit has been used as a subject in art – most of us will have drawn or painted a fruit bowl still life in art lessons in high school at some point – but now one artist is going viral for using fruit in her art in an altogether different way.

Milly Bampini – @millybampainti on Instagram – has gone viral for her videos of her using fruit and other foodstuffs as a canvas. In time-lapse videos we see her paint onto the fruit directly to create amazingly realistic effects.

In one video, liked more than 1 million times on Insta at the time of writing, she painstakingly paints onto a fruit slice to make it look like a corner of her face – and the fruit virtually disappears. How she matches her skin tone and hair color, along with an earring is amazing to watch. Not only is the talent mind-blowing to see, it is also a strangely relaxing watch.

Milly now has more than 98,000 followers on Instagram and is available for commissions.
