And now Marvel has announced a very exciting new development – a fifth film in the Avengers series.
Over 60 characters from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe are slated to reprise their roles in May 2026 – and rumored among them are Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).
Fans will also be hoping for the return of another superhero – Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth.
The Aussie actor, 40, shot to fame as Kim Hyde on the soap Home and Away in 2004, and has been playing the comic book character in the MCU movies since 2011.
But what is Hemsworth’s net worth, and where does he live with his family? Read on to find out more…
Net worth
Bursting onto our screens in 2004, Hemsworth is set to have a net worth of $130 million.
As well as his role in the MCU, Hemsworth – the middle brother of fellow actors Luke and Liam – has starred in blockbusters such as The Cabin in the Woods, Rush, Extraction and, most recently, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Investments
As well as his acting career, Hemsworth – who was a co-chair at this year’s Met Gala – has invested some of his hard-earned cash into solid investments to up his finances.
He started up health app Centr in 2019, and it’s also thought his endorsement deals with both TAG Heuer and Hugo Boss have come with seven-figure salaries.
Hemsworth’s houses
Hemsworth and his family currently live in Byron Bay, New South Wales – approximately 1000 miles North of his home city of Melbourne, VIC.
Purchasing the Balinese-style property in 2014 for $7 million, Hemsworth tore down the old eight-bedroom house to build his dream home.
According to Architectural Digest, the new 10-acre mansion cost an estimated $8.8 million to build, and has six bedrooms, a media room, gym, spa, and expansive outdoor living space – including a $400,000 rooftop infinity pool.
It was also rumored in 2019 that Hemsworth purchased another plot of land in Byron for $4.25 million – which has since increased in value to $10 million.
Prior to their move in 2015, the family lived in Los Angeles.
First purchasing the Malibu Victorian-style mansion from Crocodile Dundee star Paul Hogan in 2013, the home was privately tucked away behind a manicured hedge, creating a secluded retreat for the family.
The 6800-square-foot home featured a large living room with a fireplace and curved windows, a light-filled dining room, and an open gourmet kitchen with vaulted ceilings. It was sold in 2016 for $7 million.
Family life
Previously linked to Home and Away star Isabel Lucas, Hemsworth met Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky, 47, in early 2010 – and by December that year, the couple had tied the knot.
The pair welcomed daughter India Rose in May 2012, and their twin sons Sasha and Tristan were born in March 2014.
