- Marvel have given first concrete details on the plot of Fantastic Four: First Steps
- Julia Garner’s role has also been finally confirmed
- Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters next year

After months of rumor, speculation and teases, Marvel has finally given fans a concrete update on the plot of The Fantastic Four: First Steps – and it looks epic.
Epic plot
Fans have been given a few morsels of information in recent months, such as who will be playing Marvel’s First Family, as well it being set in the 1960s. In February, it was confirmed that Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach would be playing the eponymous four.
We later found out that Ralph Ineson – who starred in the UK version of The Office, as well as appearing in Game Of Thrones and the Harry Potter films – would be the main villain, Galactus.
But now, with production on the film set to begin soon, Disney – which owns Marvel – has posted a plot description. Here it is: “Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s first family – Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pascal), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Quinn), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Kirby) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Moss Bachrach) as they face their4 most daunting challenge yet.
“Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galacticus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer. And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it wasn’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”
Silver Surfer confirmation
So now we know more about what is to come – but with plenty still to speculate about. The release also confirmed that Julia Garner will play the Silver Surfer. It was reported earlier in the year that Garner had signed on for the film, and was widely assumed she was on board, but this is the first official confirmation from Marvel.
