Rap icon Snoop Dogg has been confirmed as one of the last torchbearers in the Olympic Torch Relay this Friday.

Snoop will carry the torch through the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis, in the penultimate leg of the torch relay as it makes its way to the Eiffel Tower.

Famous torchbearers

Snoop will be one of several famous torchbearers during this leg, with actress Laetitia Casta and rapper MC Solaar also taking a turn carrying the torch.

The torch will then be carried into the stadium and will be used to light the Olympic flame, which will burn throughout the duration of the Games, which go on for 16 days.

This ceremonial torch relay started in Greece – the birthplace of the Olympic Games – in April and was transported onto French soil by way of a three-masted sailing ship that was more than 100 years old. It has since made its way around France, as well as six overseas territories, carried by a range of people including celebrities such as Formula One driver Charles Leclerc and actress Halle Berry.

Busy Snoop

This will not be Snoop’s only involvement with the Paris Olympics. Snoop will be covering the games for NBC and Peacock, acting as a reporter and occasional commentator, providing his unique perspective on the events.

Snoop has been busy recently, with the rapper opening his first retail store in Los Angeles. As you might expect, S.W.E.D sells licenced marijuana products – including a line dedicated to his late friend and fellow rapper 2Pac, as well as rap memorabilia.
