Sony is preparing to release games on PC, and the gaming community thinks that it will lose the PlayStation players.

Strong Sales Keep PlayStation’s Confidence High

However, Sony has made it clear that they are not worried about console users switching to PC. During the FY2024 Q2 Earnings Announcement, Sony’s representative stated:

“In terms of losing users to PCs, we have neither confirmed that any such trend is underway nor do we see it as a major risk, so far.”

The gaming giant stands with optimism and confidence, and here is why they aren’t seeing this move as a risky one. Since 2020, Sony has been introducing remarkable games to PC and has been doing a lot to offer improved PC versions of games— purchased Nixxes, and with their assistance, Sony made it easier for PS games to get adapted on PC.

Moreover, Sony mentioned that there is no strong or convincing evidence that players are leaving PlayStation Consoles for PC gaming. Speaking of the PlayStation growth, PS5 is bringing stunning revenue to the company, making a sale of 65.5 million units by November 2024.

Besides this, PS4 sold even more— 73 million units in the first four years of its release. These stats high light that launching games on PC doesn’t impact the PS and fans are still choosing it no matter what.

Upcoming PC Releases and Sony’s Vision for Future Growth

Some of the past releases include Helldivers, The Last of US, Final Fantasy 16, God of War Ragnarok, and Death Stranding. Now Sony has geared up, and as president Hiroki Totoki mentioned in Q/A session that company aims to get more aggressive with this plan, (Via Eurogamer)

“So if you have strong first-party content, not only with our console but also other platforms like computers, a first party can be grown with multiplatform – and that can help operating profit to improve. So that is another one we want to proactively work on.”

“I personally think there are opportunities out there for improvement of margins,” he added, “so I would like to go aggressive in improving our margin performance.”

So what’s next? Players can look forward to Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy 2, released on PC in January 2025; other games like Gran Turismo 7 and Demon’s Souls might also make their way to this platform.

Sony’s impressive strategy doesn’t only expand their reach but also balances the growth while keeping PlayStation as the center of attention, increasing their presence beyond the consoles and PC.
