- Production has wrapped on Wednesday season 2
- Netflix has not announced a release date
- Season 2 will feature new faces, including Lady Gaga

Wednesday season 2 has finally wrapped production almost two years after Tim Burton’s first season creeped on to Netflix.
Back in 2022, the series topped Netflix’s charts and beat Stranger Things as one of its most popular shows. The streamer adjusted their viewing metrics to include the most hours viewed in a week and Wednesday took that record. Impressive.
Starring Jenna Ortega as the sombre Wednesday Addams, the actress has gone on to have horror movie success. After appearing in the Scream franchise, she was seen earlier this year in Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Ortega is even set to star in Hurry Up Tomorrow alongside The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan. Funny, considering she’s made a cameo in Sabrina Carpenter’s Taste music video. We’re not sure Sabrina’s beau Barry likes that idea.
However, while she revels in her successes, Ortega isn’t too busy to continue her role as Wednesday in another season. A recent sneak peek promised fans more “torture” than ever, but what’s in store for Wednesday season 2?

Wednesday season 2 release date

Regrettably, Netflix hasn’t issued a release date yet for Wednesday season 2 but we do know that it’s coming at some point in 2025.
However, the streamer did release the behind-the-scenes sneak peek, which only promised season 2 would be coming in 2025.
Watch it below:
Wednesday season 2 wrapped in early December 2024. However, insiders have predicted a long wait before we can finally see episodes thanks to the show’s heavy use of digital effects.
If Wednesday season 2 follows the same eight-month post-production schedule as Wednesday season 1, we could see the show hit Netflix in July 2025.
Production of Wednesday season 2 was delayed due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes over payments and labor disputes. Eventually, filming began in April 2024 and is continuing in Ireland. Meanwhile, Wednesday season 1 is available on Netflix to binge to your heart’s content.
We have been waiting almost two years for season 2 but Ortega has been a busy girl since then. When the show returns, not only will she lead the production but she’ll also act as a producer alongside Burton.
The actress hasn’t spoken about what season 2 will entail but in the sneak peek, other cast members weighed in. Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Wednesday’s mother, Morticia Addams, said, “This season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine.”
Is there a Wednesday season 2 trailer?
The first trailer for Wednesday season 2 emerged from its crypt in late April 2025. It welcomed us back to Nevermore where new mysteries were afoot.
Watch it above.
Before this arrived, we got a behind-the-scenes look. In January 2025, Netflix released a sneak peak in their 2025 sizzle reel of what could be to come in Wednesday season 2.
Sizzle reel sneak peak
The sizzle reel starts of with a girl dressed as Wednesday with thing on her shoulder walking through a library or storage place. (We’re not sure).
Thing tosses her a book, and then she has a vision. The vision shows the gates of Willowhill Psychiatric Hospital. Chained up to the wall in a room in the hospital is Tyler Galpin, who Wednesday comes face-to-face with.
A possible hint to a season 2 plot maybe?
What will happen in Wednesday Season 2?

The official plot synopsis of Wednesday season 2 hasn’t been released by Netflix. Maybe Thing is keeping it under wraps? Nobody can be sure.
Netflix’s sister site, Tudum, claimed that season 2 will continue to “chart the supernatural mysteries of Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy.” The season 2 sneak peek revealed the return of many characters and the return of Nevermore Academy.
A mystery-filled plot was also teased by showrunners and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar who told Tudum: “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore.”
Season 1 ended with the comeuppance of several big bads and many unanswered questions which Wednesday herself teased us about at season 1’s end. It’s safe to say one of season 2’s biggest questions and plots will be exploring who threatened Wednesday.
Did that certain character die and what other secrets are hiding at Nevermore Academy?
Wednesday season 2 plot details
The title of season 2’s premiere episode, Here We Woe Again, could indicate season 2 picks back up at Nevermore, just where it ended.
Since new episodes will feature many new cast members who will be part of the Addams family, it’s safe to say the Addams parents also have a bigger part in season 2’s plot than they did previously.
Ortega hasn’t said much about the new plot but she did tell Buzzfeed: “It felt like every day we were tackling a big scene,” hinting there could be more huge challenges for Wednesday in on the horizon.
Wednesday season 2 cast

Much to everyone’s joy, most of the characters from season 2 will be returning – those who are still alive, anyway. Of course, Ortega is back front and centre as she continues to uncover the secrets of Nevermore.
Emma Myers, who plays Wednesday’s beloved roommate Enid Sinclair will also return. Many other Nevermore classmates will be back in season 2. These include Joy Sunday as Wednesday’s frenemy and siren Bianca Barclay, and other classmates like Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus and Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger.
Beloved fan-favourite human and love interest of Wednesday, Tyler Gaplin played by unter Doohan, will return, although we’re unsure if he will be involved with Wednesday romantically considering season 1’s big reveal. Showrunner Alfred Gough confirmed to Variety that “Tyler is still out there,” so it’s safe to say his sheriff father Donovan Galpin – played by Jamie McShane – is too.
Is Uncle Fester in Wednesday season 2?
The original Addams family are also back, including Zeta-Jones’ Morticia, Luis Guzmán’s Gomez, Isaac Ordonez’s Pugsley and Fred Armisen providing a few Uncle Fester cameos.

New members of the Addams family are also set to be in season 2.
Newcomers include Boardwalk Empire’s Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, and Doctor Who’s Billie Piper as Capri. Others joining season 2 are Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor, who will be series regulars.
Joining in the guest star department are Addams Family alum Christopher Lloyd, the legendary Joanna Lumely, Westworld’s Thandiwe Newton and The Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment. The Princess Diaries’ Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo will also star.
In November 2024, it was revealed actress and music megastar Lady Gaga will also have a role in season 2, although in what capacity, we don’t know yet.
Not returning for season 2 is Percy Hynes White as Xaiver Thorpe, who was abruptly dropped from the show’s cast after facing allegations of sexual misconduct in 2022.
Lady Gaga and Jenna Ortega Praise working together
Seemingly it was confirmed that Gaga would have a “small role” in season 2. However, that didn’t stop Gaga from praising her co-star. In March 2025, the singer said to Entertainment Weekly: “I don’t want to give away anything about being part of the show. I want to keep it extra secret — but, I love Jenna, and I really had an amazing time!”
Ortega also gushed over Gaga in an interview with IndieWire. Ortega said to the outlet: “It’s the best. She’s the best, definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with.”
“It was just a really, really special environment to be there with her and Tim Burton, two people that I respect and have been inspired by so much,” she continued.
The Wednesday star also praised Gaga and said that you can always expect “kindness and generosity” from her. She spilled on the singer’s personality, calling her a “sweetheart” who was surprisingly “reserved.”
